The Prime Minister has revealed Auckland will move to alert level 1 at midday today.
Alert level 2 had been in place since 6am on Sunday 7 March and was scheduled to last for seven days.
Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins had said earlier he was "optimistic" Auckland would be at alert level 1 this weekend.
And this morning, senior minister David Parker said it was "looking good" for an alert level change.
That optimism was underpinned by the fact there hasn't been a Covid-19 community case in two weeks.
