Coronavirus: For the eleventh consecutive day New Zealand has no new cases of COVID-19

Today New Zealand has no new cases of COVID-19 the Ministry of Health has reported.

The total number of confirmed and probable cases since the pandemic began sits at 1,504.

The total of confirmed cases is 1,154.

There are no new deaths today.

The death toll remains at 22, including 12 from the Rosewood cluster.

A total of 1,481 people are reported as having recovered from COVID-19 - no change on yesterday.

There is just one person left in New Zealand with a known active infection.

There is no one in New Zealand receiving hospital-level care for COVID-19.

A change to the size of social gatherings that are permitted under Alert Level 2 came into effect at midday Friday.

Groups of up to 100 people are now permitted – this includes events at home and outside of home, and gatherings like religious services, parties, weddings, tangihanga and funerals.  

Last week, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern revealed that cabinet will review the level 2 settings on June 8.

Alert level 1 means essentially all restrictions lifted, apart from border controls.

If ready, New Zealanders would be given a few days' notice before the alert level was to drop.
