Coronavirus: New Zealand has 9 new cases of Covid-19 and three people in ICU

Today New Zealand has 9 new cases of COVID-19 - bringing the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1,440, the Ministry of Health confirmed.

There are 7 new confirmed cases and 2 probable cases today.

There are no further deaths to report.

New Zealand's death toll remains at 12, including seven from the Rosewood cluster.

There are 14 people in hospital, including three in ICU. Two of these patients are in critical condition.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is up to 974 - up 62 on yesterday's number.

The number of new cases has been on a declining trend for the last two weeks despite an increase in the number of tests.

For the twelfth day in a row, more people have recovered from coronavirus than having tested positive.

Last Tuesday, New Zealand had its deadliest day with four people dying from the virus.

Three were from the Rosewood rest home cluster and a man in his 70s died in Wellington.
