New Zealand has 20 new cases of COVID-19 in the community, reports the Ministry of Health.

All of the new cases are in Auckland.

That brings the total number of cases in this outbreak to 821.

There are 40 people in hospital, including six patients in intensive care.

Cabinet is meeting today to decide if restrictions will be loosened for regions outside of Auckland.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will announce any alert level decisions at 4pm today.

Auckland will remain at alert level 4 until 11.59pm on Tuesday 14 September.

The rest of the country is currently at level 3.

The Government is still investigating how the original transmission occurred from the New South Wales returnee who was staying in MIQ at the Crowne Plaza.
