Coronavirus: New Zealand has had one further death linked to coronavirus

Sadly, New Zealand has had another coronavirus-related death.

The death is a woman in her 90s in Waitakere hospital.

She had been transferred from CHT St Margarets Hospital and Rest Home.

She had a number of underlying health conditions and was the thrid person in that cluster to die.

This brings the death toll to 19, including 10 from the Rosewood cluster.

Today New Zealand has five new cases of COVID-19 - bringing the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1,469, says Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield.

That is made up of one new confirmed cases and four new probable cases.

There are 7 people in hospital, including one in ICU in Middlemore Hospital.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is up to 1,180 - up 38 on yesterday's number.

This means 80 per cent of all confirmed and probable cases are now recovered.

Tonight at 11.59pm, the country will be lifted out of lockdown and move into alert level 3.
