Coronavirus: New Zealand has had one further death linked to COVID-19

Sadly, New Zealand has had another coronavirus-related death.

The death is a woman in her 70s in Waitakere hospital.

She had been transferred from CHT St Margarets Hospital and Rest Home.

Waitakere hospital staff were able to support daily visits by a family member in the days prior to her passing.

This brings the death toll to 18, including 10 from the Rosewood cluster.

Today New Zealand has 5 new cases of COVID-19 - bringing the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1,456, reports the Ministry of Health.

There are 7 people in hospital, including one in ICU in Middlemore Hospital.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is up to 1,118 - up 23 on yesterday's number.

On Monday at 11.59pm, the country will be lifted out of lockdown and move into alert level 3.
