Coronavirus: New Zealand has had two more deaths linked to coronavirus

Sadly, New Zealand has two more coronavirus-related deaths.

The first was a man in his 90s who died in Waikato Hospital. His infection was linked to the Matamata cluster.

The second was a woman in her 80s from the Rosewood cluster in Christchurch.

This brings the death toll to eleven, including seven from the Rosewood cluster.

Today New Zealand has 8 new cases of Covid-19 - bringing the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1,409 says Director of Public Health, Caroline McElnay.

There are 2 new confirmed cases and 6 probable cases today.

There are 14 people in hospital, including three in ICU. Two of these patients are in critical condition.

Of the total, 816 people have recovered.

For the ninth day in a row, more people have recovered from coronavirus than have tested positive.

On Tuesday, New Zealand had its deadliest day with four people dying from the virus.

Three were from the Rosewood rest home cluster and a man in his 70s died in Wellington.
