Coronavirus: New Zealand has one new confirmed case of COVID-19

Today New Zealand has one new confirmed case of COVID-19 - taking the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1,489, Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield says.

The total of confirmed cases is 1,139.

There are no new deaths today.

The death toll remains at 21, including 12 from the Rosewood cluster.

There are two people in hospital, none of whom are in ICU.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is up to 1,332.

This means 89 per cent of all confirmed and probable cases are now recovered.

Social gathering restrictions, how schools will open and whether domestic travel might open under alert level 2 will be revealed by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern today.
