Coronavirus: New Zealand has one new confirmed case of COVID in the community today

Today New Zealand has one new confirmed case of COVID in the community, the Ministry of Health has reported.

The community case is linked to the current South Auckland cluster.

There are three people in hospital, including two patients in intensive care.

There are two previously reported cases who are considered to have recovered today.

That brings the total number of active cases to 96 in New Zealand, with 57 in the community.

The total number of confirmed cases in New Zealand since the pandemic began is 1,447.

Auckland is currently in alert level "2.5", with tighter restrictions than normal level 2 including a 10-per person limit on social gatherings other than funerals or tangi.

The rest of the country is at level 2.

Cabinet is currently reviewing the Covid-19 alert level situation, with any changes to be made from Wednesday at 11.59pm.
