Coronavirus: Today New Zealand has one new case of COVID-19

Today New Zealand has one new case of COVID-19 the Ministry of Health has reported.

It is the first case reported this week.

The case has been linked to the St Margaret's cluster in Auckland and was a household contact of an earlier case.

The person was already in isolation because of their connection to the earlier case.

The total number of confirmed and probable cases since the pandemic began now sits at 1,504.

The total of confirmed cases is 1,154.

There are no new deaths today.

The death toll remains at 21, including 12 from the Rosewood cluster.

A total of 1,455 people reported as having recovered from Covid-19 - an increase of three from yesterday.

This means 97 per cent of all confirmed and probable cases are now recovered.

There are just 28 people left in New Zealand with a known active infection, only one of which is in hospital.

On Wednesday Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern revealed that the Government intends to continue to phase in more activity in alert level 2.

Ardern said Covid-19 is still in the community and the country needs to be careful as it heads down the alert levels.
