American figure skater Nathan Chen has been feeling the love after winning gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics with a free skate routine set to a medley of Elton John's songs.

But he wasn't expecting to feel the love from the man who literally wrote the music.

The 22-year-old - who became the second American to win the figure skating men's singles gold in 30 years - delivered a nearly flawless four-minute routine to reworked versions of John's 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,' 'Rocket Man' and 'Bennie and the Jets.'

Taking to Twitter following Chen's win, the 74-year-old music legend congratulated the skater on his gold medal.

"Congratulations @nathanwchen for winning Gold skating to Rocket Man in the free skate finals in Beijing," the Rocket Man wrote.

Earlier in the games, the Salt Lake City native - who is called a "figure skating master class" - set an international figure skating world record in the men's short program with a score of 113.97.

Chen's Elton John-themed routine scored an impressive 218.63 which included five quad jumps, finishing with a combined score of 332.60.

The 22-year-old is known as "the Quad King" due to his ability to perform quadruple jumps with ease. He is the first skater to have landed five types of quadruple jumps in competition.
