Elton John moved to tears by wrongfully imprisoned America's Got Talent performer

When Archie Williams' audition for America's Got Talent was shared this week, his emotional performance brought tears to our eyes.

Archie, who was wrongfully imprisoned for 37 years after a woman was stabbed and raped in her home in 1982, stunned the show's judges and audience with his emotional performance of Elton John's hit 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.'

And now Elton himself has revealed he was overcome with emotion after watching the audition.

Taking to Twitter, the legendary singer praised Archie's rendition of the song, saying he was "moved to tears" on hearing the contestant's story.

Alongside the video of Archie's performance, Elton wrote: "I was moved to tears when I heard Archie's story and saw him perform 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me.'

Archie was freed thanks to the efforts of the Innocence Project - a non-profit organisation that aims to end wrongful convictions - and DNA evidence that cleared his name.
