Kate Middleton reveals the relatable reason why Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis weren't at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere

All eyes were on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they attended the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London's Leicester Square last week.

The royal couple dressed to impress as they rubbed shoulders with a star-studded cast led by Tom Cruise, however, onlookers were disappointed Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis weren't with them.

And it turns out the Cambridge children were also gutted to miss the glitzy evening.

Eleven-year-old Poppy Saunders, who spoke to Kate Middleton, revealed said: "I gave her flowers and shook hands and she said 'hello Poppy.' She said a lot about how the kids love the film as well."

While her mother Lindsay Saunders added that Kate said: "They wished they were here tonight.

"And I said 'well, it is a school night.'"

Top Gun: Maverick, which has so far received rave reviews from critics, sees Hollywood star Cruise reprise the role of US naval aviator Pete Mitchell and is being released 36 years after the 1986 original.

Other stars include Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Monica Barbaro, Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm and Glen Powell.
