The Duchess of Cambridge made her debut as the new royal patron of the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League this week, taking over the role previously held by her brother-in-law Prince Harry.

Known for her athleticism, the mother-of-three wowed as she showed off her impressive rugby skills at a training session at Twickenham Stadium.

Later posting a video from the training session on social media, the Duchess shared footage of herself participating in a line-out play, where a player can be hoisted in the air by their teammates to receive a ball after it goes out of the field of play.

She also shared a clip attempting to spin a rugby ball on her finger on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

Kate, who sported a tracksuit with a red rose on the pants and jacket, took part in a variety of other drills and met England players from the men's and women's squads as they prepare for the Six Nations Championships.

But it was during her visit to Twickenham Stadium that she revealed to England's women squad that Prince Louis is a big fan of the sport, though she's worried about her youngest son's "kamikaze" approach to physical activity.

The duchess admitted: "They're all enjoying it. Louis is kamikaze, we're worrying about when he gets older, he'll be in the middle of everything."

Catherine - who also has Prince George and Princess Charlotte with Prince William - told how her kids play both netball and rugby at school and she loves to see gender lines getting broken down.

The Duchess' appointment now puts her in direct competition with her husband, who is the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union.
