Following the release of Prince Harry's explosive memoir, Spare, King Charles has reportedly evicted his son and Meghan Markle from their UK home, Frogmore Cottage.

The couple - who stepped down as working royals and moved to California three years ago - were given the property, which underwent significant renovations costing taxpayers £2.4 million (NZ$4.7 million), by the late Queen Elizabeth as a wedding present in 2018, but now Harry's father has asked them to leave.

According to The Sun, the couple has started making arrangements to have the belongings they'd left behind in the UK shipped to their new home in Montecito, California.

In what's sure to come as a further blow, Charles has also reportedly suggested his brother, Prince Andrew, move into the five-bedroom Windsor house instead.

A source told the newspaper: "This surely spells the end of Harry and Meghan's time in the UK."

Harry has stayed at the cottage a few times since leaving the UK, including when he returned for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip in 2021.

He and Meghan celebrated their daughter's first birthday there when they visited for the Queen's platinum jubilee last June and were there after the monarch died in September.

The couple – along with their children, Archie, three, and Lilibet, one – currently reside in a NZ$34m mansion with nine bedrooms.
