The 2022 Academy Awards turned out to be a highly talked-about event, largely thanks to the Chris Rock-Will Smith fiasco.

Unfortunately, the drama overshadowed a truly lovely moment between Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli, which has since started to go viral.

Towards the end of the ceremony, the legendary actresses took to the stage to announce the winner of the coveted Best Picture award.

The 76-year-old sat in a wheelchair while Gaga stood beside her and introduced her, with Minnelli relishing the welcoming cheers from the crowd.

"The public, they love you," Gaga said while looking at Minnelli.

"I'm finally honoured to present the final award of the evening with the true showbusiness legend," Gaga continued. "She's celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cabaret. Oscar-winning actress, Liza Minnelli."

Throughout their presentation, Gaga and Minnelli were seen laughing and holding hands.

But the real heartwarming moment happened when the Arthur star appeared to get a little lost reading the teleprompter and Gaga helped her out, leaning over to quietly tell her "I got you," to which Minnelli replied, "I know."

Following the ceremony, fans have taken to social media to show appreciation for the House of Gucci actress.

One person wrote: "Lady Gaga was the epitome of kindness and honour: 'I’ve got you.' Allowing a trembling and confused Liza Minnelli to feel like a star. Pure generosity of soul!"

Another added: "Real moment of the night was Lady Gaga showing absolute kindness, advocacy, and support for Liza Minnelli."

"I admire Lady Gaga for making legends like Tony Bennett and Liza Minelli feel comfortable despite their rapid health decline," someone else said.

Minnelli won the award for Best Actress for her leading role in Cabaret in 1973.
