Lisa Carrington has won New Zealand's 12th medal at Tokyo Olympics

Canoeist Lisa Carrington has won New Zealand's 12th medal of the Tokyo Olympics after claiming gold in the women's K-1 200m today.

Winning the gold medal at three consecutive Olympics, Carrington blitzed the field claiming victory in 38.120 seconds. 

Spain's Teresa Portela Rivas won silver at 38.883, while Denmark's Emma Jørgensen came in third at 38.901.

Today's medal adds to her golds from London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and a bronze in K-1 500m from 2016.
