The New Zealand men's eight have won New Zealand's seventh medal of the Tokyo Olympics after claiming gold today.

The crew - made up of Shaun Kirkham, Tom Mackintosh, Michael Brake, Matt MacDonald, Tom Murray, Phillip Wilson, Hamish Bond, Daniel Williamson and coxswain Sam Bosworth - came in at 5.24.64.

Germany claimed silver in 5.25.60, with Great Britain in third at 5.25.73.

The Kiwis trailed for the first half, but once they took the lead, never looked back.

Today's win marks Hamish Bond's third Olympic gold medal.
