Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced some wonderful news yesterday: They are expecting their second child.

And the 36-year-old royal made sure to mark the moment with a touching tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana.

Announcing the exciting news on Valentine's Day in the States, it turns out that particular date is very significant for the royal family.

On Valentine's Day 37 years ago, Princess Diana and Prince Charles announced they were expecting their second child and that Prince William would be a big brother.

The "People's Princess" appeared on the cover of The Telegraph with news that she was expecting Prince Harry. He was born on September 15, 1984.

The couple - who stepped back from their duties as senior members of the royal family in January 2020 - are "super excited" to give their son, Archie, a sibling.

Their representatives confirmed: "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child."

This announcement was accompanied by a sweet black-and-white photo debuting Meghan's baby bump.

This isn't the first time the couple has paid homage to his mother.

In the past, Prince Harry has honoured her memory by choosing those same flowers for Meghan Markle's bridal bouquet.

"Prince Harry handpicked several flowers yesterday from their private garden at Kensington Palace to add to the bespoke bridal bouquet designed by florist Philippa Craddock," read a statement from Kensington Palace at the time.

"The spring blooms include Forget-Me-Nots which were Diana, Princess of Wales’ favourite flower. The couple specifically chose them to be included in Ms. Markle’s bouquet to honour the memory of the late Princess on this special day."

Harry and Meghan, who moved to America with son Archie last year, have recently bought an £11 million house in the celebrity hotspot of Santa Barbara.
