An array of famous faces joined Graham Norton on Friday evening, but it was Sir Rod Stewart who apparently stole the show for all the wrong reasons after performing his new single, One More Time.

While the audience members and fellow celebrities applauded the legendary rocker as he took to the stage wearing a black sequin blazer, viewers took to Twitter to share their disappointment.

"This Rod Stewart performance on Graham Norton is the worst thing I have seen in quite some time," wrote one viewer.

"It was bad already, and then that key change really cemented it!" added another.

A third tweeted: "Oh dear. Rod Stewart was embarrassing. I switched off #GrahamNortonShow."

Some even pointed out the similarities to Billy Mack's performance of 'Christmas Is All Around' in the famous festive film Love Actually, with one saying: "Rod Stewart on #GrahamNortonShow has definitely taken inspiration by Bill Nighy in Love Actually."

Another agreed, writing: "Think it's more than fair to say that Rod Stewart has watched Love Actually before his performance on the #GrahamNortonShow. Definitely getting Bill Nighy/Billy Mack vibes from his all-female backing band."

"Rod Stewart on The Graham Norton Show is like watching Bill Nighy in Love Actually. Yet not as funny," someone else brutally commented.

After the performance, the 76-year-old singer joined Graham and the celebs in the seating area for a chat.

Stewart went on to discuss his upcoming tour: "We start hopefully in Australia and New Zealand in February or March."
