Taika Waititi hilariously tells Americans not to move to New Zealand during Critics Choice Awards

While presenting at the Critics Choice Awards yesterday, Taika Waititi hilariously made one thing very clear to the audience: He doesn’t want Americans to move to New Zealand.

As the Kiwi filmmaker read out the nominees for Best Director, he gave New Zealand a shout out in the form of a PSA.

"And also my very own home country, a place that you all want to move to, but we don’t want you ... New Zealand!" he joked.

"I keep hearing this, 'Oh can't wait to move to New Zealand!' We don't want you. We saw what you did to this place. Nah. You made that bed."

Fittingly, Kiwi director Jane Campion took home the award for her film The Power of the Dog.
