Just days after it was announced Robbie Williams would be playing himself in his upcoming biopic, it has now been revealed who will portray him in his younger years.

Taking to social media, actor Jonno Davies - who has appeared in series such as Casualty and Holby City - confirmed he'd be playing a younger incarnation of the iconic singer.

Re-posting an article about the film's cast, the 29-year-old wrote: "I'm playing Robbie Williams in his musical biopic Better Man, alongside an incredible cast and the legend himself; all beautifully directed by Michael Gracey. Bloody hell."

The film, from The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey, will tell the coming-of-age story of the 'Let Me Entertain You' hitmaker - who first rose to fame aged 16 as a singer with boyband Take That and then as a solo artist.

Gracey said the film will not be like Rocketman or Bohemian Rhapsody, which were about musical prodigies that the world had to catch up to.

He described Robbie as an "everyman" who has an "incredibly relatable story" about following your dreams.

The filmmaker went on to confirm Robbie's music will be re-recorded for the film and producers will be looking for a studio to buy the movie at the upcoming European Film Market event.

We can't wait for it to hit cinemas!
