Adele is known for moving fans to tears with her music, but little did she know she would be shedding some of her own at her Las Vegas residency show.

The 34-year-old, who postponed her Weekends with Adele at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in January last year just 24 hours before the opening night, was doing her famous audience walkabout while belting out 'When We Were Young' when the emotional moment happened.

In the footage, Adele can be seen passing an older gentleman – who appeared to be by himself in the crowd and with tears in his eyes – holding up his phone displaying a picture of a woman while holding his heart.

When she returned to the stage, the Grammy winner stopped to address the audience, holding back a flood of tears.

"When I walk through the crowd, I wish you could see what I could see," she began.

"I see little stories ... and there's a man – can you see him holding his phone up? I think that's his wife on his phone and I don't think she's here. And it just really moved me and I think you're here on your own. I'm so sorry for your loss."

She added: "I see little pockets of people’s lives as I walk through and it’s so beautiful."

And we couldn't agree more - we love that he took his wife to see Adele.
