Whitney Houston's hologram makes its debut

While February marked eight years since the legendary Whitney Houston passed away, fans can still have the chance to see her perform on stage once again in the form of a hologram.

Houston's estate announced last year that the 'I Will Always Love You' hitmaker - who passed away in 2012, aged 48 - will tour as a hologram with her original band and back-up singers, including her brother Gary Houston.

And now we've had our first look at An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour.

The tour, which is set to kick off across Europe later this month, will reportedly include fan favourites, such as 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)' and 'The Greatest Love of All'.

"A hologram show is all about the imagination and creating a 'wow factor' that extends to an incredible experience to enjoy for years to come, Whitney is not with us but her music will live with us forever," explained Pat Houston, the singer's sister-in-law, former manager and the executor of her estate.

"We know we made the right decision partnering with BASE because they understand how important it is to produce a phenomenal hologram.

"They also know that engaging her fans with an authentic Whitney experience would resonate worldwide because of the iconic status that she created over three decades. Her fans deserve nothing less because she gave nothing less than her best."

Whitney isn't the only superstar to be immortalised in hologram form and it was announced in 2018 that the estate of the late Amy Winehouse - who passed away aged 27 in 2011 - has also teamed up with the BASE Hologram company to create a virtual likeness of the star, which will go out on the road with a live band and backing singers to perform "digitally remastered" versions of her classic hits.

The hologram debut comes following the news Whitney is set to be one of the inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2020, where she will be posthumously honoured at the event in May.

Whitney will be inducted alongside five other musical acts, including Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., and T-Rex.
