Legendary actress Whoopi Goldberg has let slip that she's working extremely hard to get a third  Sister Act film across the line with directors.

Appearing via stream on The Late Late Show with James Corden last week, Goldberg revealed that there's been a huge call for a third film in recent months and she hopes to reprise her role as sister Mary Clarence.

"Because for a long time they kept saying no one wanted to see it," Goldberg said.

"And then, quite recently, it turns out, that that may not be true. People might want to see it. So, we're working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back."

The original film was first released in 1992, with its sequel Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit coming a year later in 1993.

Sister Act became a box office hit, grossing $232 million worldwide.

Goldberg didn't quite reveal a time frame for the film, but we'd like to hope it'll be in the making soon!
